Set up your assistant
The setup wizard: business, name and language, capabilities, first calendar, services and a first test.
You need: your opening hours and an idea of what callers book with you. Time: about 10 minutes.
The setup wizard starts with your business, because your assistant has to know whom it speaks for. It then creates your first assistant, your first calendar and your services. You can change all of it later.
1. Enter your business
Business Name and Industry / Business Type are required. The optional Industry preset decides which services are suggested to you later. Also enter your business's Opening Hours. You add address, contact details and payment methods afterwards under Business.
2. Pick a name and language
The name is internal, for example "Reception" or "Workshop". Callers don't hear it. The language decides whether your assistant speaks German or English.
3. Choose capabilities
Appointment booking, Cancellation, Rescheduling, Provide information, Call transfer and Callback are preselected. Cancellation and rescheduling need appointment booking. What each capability does on a call is explained under Assistant settings.
4. Create your first calendar
Only if Appointment booking is on. The calendar wizard asks, in turn:
- Basics: name, default appointment length and calendar type (In-House Appointment or Drop-Off Service). You can't change the type later.
- Location: country and state or canton. They set the time zone and public holidays.
- Availability: time slots per weekday, prefilled with your opening hours.
- Google Calendar: this is where you share your Google Calendar. How that works is in Connect Google Calendar.
5. Choose services
You see suggestions that match your industry preset and calendar type; none is preselected. Tick what callers can book with you, or create your own with Add your own service. At least one service is required. Complete setup creates the assistant, the calendar and the services. More under Services.
6. Test in the chat
Finally you type to your assistant in the browser and it replies. After that you land on its test page, where you can also call it using your microphone.
A test is a real conversation: appointments it books land in your calendar, and the summary email is sent.
Without appointment booking, steps 4 to 6 are skipped. The assistant is created right after the capabilities.
Check
Your new assistant is listed under Assistants, your first calendar under Calendars. Ask it for a free appointment on the test page: it names times from your calendar.
Next
Next, check that your calendar is shared: Connect Google Calendar. Then continue with Phone number and forwarding. Everything about testing is in Test your assistant.
